Data Analysis and Discussion

In our experiment, we found that the rubber band traveled the farthest at the 15 degree angle. There the average distance was 580.2 centimeters. At the 30 degree angle the average distance was 466.5 centimeters, at the 45 degree angle the average distance was 453.2 centimeters, at the 60 degree angle the average distance had dwindled down to 378.85 centimeters, and finally at the 75 degree angle the average distance was only 247.85 centimeters.

Based on these findings, we can conclude that the rubber band traveled the farthest at the 15 degree angle. However, the research lead us to believe that it would travel the farthest at the 45 degree angle due to gravity and the angle's trajectory. There are several explanations to why we didn't get the same conclusion that the research did. Human error, a faulty machine, not enough controlled variables would all contribute to altering our findings.

Our rubber band traveled the least distance at the 75 degree angle. This, however, we can back up. It doesn't go very far because the trajectory of the angle is long and thin, like a pencil. It just goes straight up and falls down again due to gravity.

The websites' findings led us to believe that the 45 degree angle would cause the rubber band to travel the furthest. The trajectory was supposed do be perfectly situated. It is uncertain why our project didn't match up with those findings. There are several possible reasons - human error, a faulty machine, inconsistent surroundings, could certainly contribute. For example, if there was wind in the testing area the rubber band could be carried or pushed back by it therefore altering the distances. Plus, if the rubber bands were of different lengths or thicknesses that could definitely alter it.

Our hypothesis, that the 45 degree angle would be the best, was not correct. Apparently the trajectory was not the one which would propel the rubber band the farthest. Instead the 15 degree angle was the angle that made the rubber band travel the farthest.
